Making an impact

The ideal candidate wishes to actively engage in a dynamic and professional team committed to meeting the needs of victims of criminal acts and their loved ones.

Main responsibilities

  • Welcome, inform, and provide intervention services to victims of crime, their loved ones, and witnesses ;
  • Assess needs and provide post-traumatic and psychosocial intervention ;
  • Provide information regarding victims’ rights and available legal remedies, and offer the required technical assistance ;
  • Explain the criminal justice process and deliver witness preparation programs ;
  • Accompany victims throughout judicial proceedings, including court appearances ;
  • Ensure accurate record keeping and statistical reporting ;
  • Perform any other related duties in line with the organization’s mandate ;
  • The position also involves meeting partners from the Kitigan Zibi and Lac Barrière communities to strengthen and develop collaborative processes.

Collaboration :

The person will work closely with the following partners :

  • Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DPCP) ;
  • Police services ;
  • Organizations within the health and social services network ;
  • Community organizations in the region.

  • Excellent command of spoken and written French, as well as English, in order to serve an English-speaking clientele.

Requirements and skills sought

  • Hold a university degree that allows membership in one of the following professional orders: OTSRFQ, OPPQ, OPQ, OPSQ, OPCQ, or be listed in the acquired rights register of one of these orders ;
  • Any other relevant training and experience related to social intervention will be considered ;
  • Excellent judgment and strong clinical analysis skills ;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and in collaboration with external partners.

Your strengths for this position

  • Hold a valid driver’s licence ;
  • Professional experience in victimology or in related intervention settings ;
  • Good knowledge of the judicial system ;
  • Membership in a professional order will be considered an asset ;
  • Bilingualism in French and English. Knowledge of Algonquin is considered an asset in the context of services provided to Indigenous clients.
